The Black Dahlia Murder have announced “Two Decades Of Nocturnal,” a European headline tour marking the 20th anniversary of their 2007 album “Nocturnal.” The Michigan melodic death metal band will perform a set built around the album alongside songs from across their catalog.
Vocalist Brian Eschbach commented on the announcement. He said the set will feature a great deal of material off the band’s third release and that he cannot wait to see fans again.
“Nocturnal” came out on 2007 via Metal Blade Records. The band recorded it with Eric Rachel at Trax East, and Jason Seucof mixed it at Audiohammer. The album debuted at No. 72 on the Billboard 200 and earned The Black Dahlia Murder a Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best Underground Band.
The band has faced major changes since the album’s release. Co-founder and vocalist Trevor Strnad passed away in 2022, and co-founder Brian Eschbach then stepped into the vocalist role. Their tenth studio album, “Servitude,” followed on Metal Blade Records in September 2024 and marked Eschbach’s recorded debut as lead vocalist and lyricist.
In 2024, the band returned to Europe for the first time since 2019. During that time they played festivals such as Download Festival, Graspop, Hellfest and Wacken Open Air. They are currently on a co-headline North American tour with Arch Enemy. Guitarist Wes Hauch, known for his work with Alluvial and previously The Faceless, has also joined the band as a full member.
The Black Dahlia Murder formed in Waterford, Michigan in 2001 and have been signed to Metal Blade Records since their 2003 debut, “Unhallowed.” The band has released ten studio albums, eight of which charted on the Billboard 200, with 2011’s “Ritual” peaking at No. 31.
