The Agonist brokes up due to “personal, financial, and industry issues”

A story that began in 2005, that of the Canadian melodic death metallers The Agonist, and a story that is sadly drawing to a close. In a statement released on major social media, the band – which had also been an important chapter in the career of Alissa White-Gluz – announced its retirement from the scene. The end of an era, in every sense of the word. And the reasons seem to be various, from the music business to personal issues, not to mention the increasingly pressing economic swings in the industry.

Vicky Psarakis, Simon McKay, Chris Kells, Danny Marino, and Pascal “Paco” Jobin have no plans to stop rocking, however. All of them will continue to pursue solo paths or side projects, as reiterated by The Agonist‘s final farewell.
