Dutch progressive metal pioneers Textures are back with their new single “At The Edge Of Winter”. The track is the second preview of their upcoming album “Genotype”, which arrives January 23, 2026 via Kscope. It features a stunning guest appearance from Charlotte Wessels (ex-Delain) and captures everything fans love about the band: intricate grooves, a rich atmosphere, and soaring melodies.
The band wrote and produced the track entirely on their own. It blends shimmering synths and polyrhythmic riffs beneath Wessels’ dynamic vocals, creating a sound that feels both cinematic and intimate. Moreover, the music video, directed by bassist Remko Tielemans, mirrors the introspective lyrics through striking visuals that explore self-reflection and emotional growth.
When Textures announced their split in 2018, many believed it marked the end of an era for progressive metal. Their absence left a clear gap in the scene. However, six years later, the Dutch innovators have reignited their legacy with “Genotype”. The album serves as a rebirth rather than a sequel to 2016’s “Phenotype”, showcasing a renewed creative energy and vision. Fans can already preorder the album through Kscope.
The new record captures the essence of the band’s signature sound across eight songs. It was mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus) and speaks directly to outsiders and introspective listeners. Through this release, Textures celebrates authenticity and the courage to remain true to one’s identity.
Fans won’t have to wait long to experience it live. Textures will join Jinjer on their European tour in early 2026, bringing this new chapter to audiences across the continent.
