Sweden’s In Mourning releases reissue of groundbreaking album “The Weight Of Oceans”

While working on new studio material and planning live shows for 2025, Swedish melodic death metal pioneers In Mourning are celebrating the re-release of their landmark 2012 album “The Weight Of Oceans”. The reissue, available now as a Limited Double 180g Green Vinyl and CD Digipack, is released in cooperation with Dalapop and licensed through Spinefarm Records.

“The Weight Of Oceans, our old kraken is resurfacing!” the band states. “We’re extremely relieved to finally re-release The Weight of Oceans. This release has been highly requested, and it feels great to present it on 180-gram double LP and new digipack CD. The additional kick-ass shirt design by the amazing Coki Greenway is just the icing on the cake.“

“The Weight Of Oceans” presented the band’s mythology-inspired conceptual story centered on the sea. Musically, In Mourning combines diverse influences within a melodic death metal framework, ranging from doom-laden riffs and blast beats with guttural vocals to serene passages of clean melodies and harmonies.

“Though this is our third record, it feels like it’s been with us the longest,” guitarist Tim Nedergård recently reflected. “I remember after completing the recordings, we discussed how the third record would prove if bands were the real deal or not.“
