Swallow The Sun to release Dark Deluxe version of “Shining” album in April – “What Have I Become” video now available

Finnish melodic death/doom metal band Swallow The Sun will release a Dark Deluxe version of their “Shining” album on April 11. The album includes extra recordings from Hellsinki Metal Festival and new versions of “Innocence Was Long Forgotten” and “MelancHoly“. The live version of “What Have I Become (Live at Hellsinki Metal Festival 2024)” is now available to watch.

Juha Raivio comments on the digital deluxe version: “The black album of death/doom finally got its black cover! When I created the music for this album, I felt it shining brightly through thick darkness. I wasn’t sure whether to name the album Shining or Shining Dark, both felt right. Finally, we have both versions.”

Mikko Kotamäki adds: “Although live performances are often challenging and less enjoyable for a Finnish introvert, I must admit that performing these songs has been enjoyable on some level. See you on tour!“

The band starts their North American headline tour today from Detroit. The Shining Over North America tour comprises 23 shows. After America, the band continues to Europe, where they’ll be joined by Stam1na and Before The Dawn. The European leg of the tour starts on April 14, 2025, in Belgium and travels through 13 different countries before concluding in Hamburg, Germany, on May 6.
