US drone metal legends Sunn O))) has released a fresh new single, “Glory Black”, out now on digital platforms via Sub Pop.

The track arrives as a preview of the band’s upcoming self-titled album, which Sub Pop has set for release on April 3, 2026. The album was tracked at Bear Creek Studios with Brad Wood (HuM, Tar, Sunny Day Real Estate, Liz Phair).

Musically, “Glory Black” leans into what Sunn O))) do best, huge sustained tones, dense low end, and patient movement that builds tension over time. Still, it does not feel like a throwback move. Instead, it lands as another clear chapter in the duo’s long-form approach to writing and sound.

Sunn O))), founded by Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson, have spent decades shaping the modern drone and experimental metal landscape. Over the years, they have moved between underground spaces and major festivals while keeping their core identity intact. Because of that, a standalone single like “Glory Black” can say plenty with very little.
