Seattle drone metal pioneers Sunn O))) have released a brand new single titled “Butch’s Guns”. The track serves as the latest preview from the band’s upcoming self titled album, “Sunn O)))”. The record arrives on April 3, 2026 via Sub Pop.
With “Butch’s Guns”, the duo once again dive deep into their signature low tuned minimalism. Thick layers of distortion roll forward at a glacial pace. Meanwhile, the atmosphere feels dense and physical, as if the sound itself presses against the listener.
The new album marks the band’s first full length release since 2019’s “Pyroclasts”. It also stands as their debut album for Sub Pop. The band recorded the material at Bear Creek Studios in Washington. Brad Wood co produced the record alongside the duo.
In addition, the upcoming album features several new compositions that expand their slow burning approach. Tracks such as “Glory Black” and “Mindrolling” promise further exploration into their immersive sonic world. However, “Butch’s Guns” already hints at a raw and focused direction.
Sunn O))) have also confirmed live dates in support of the release. The band will headline shows across North America this spring. Later, they will bring their towering amplifiers to Europe and the UK.
