As we reported yesterday, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was hospitalised with pneumonia, even spending a night in the emergency room. After it was originally said that he would have to stay in the hospital for a few more days, due to the risk of heart failure, his wife Ariana Cooper Whibley now announces in an Instagram post that the Canadian musician has already been released from the hospital:

“I’m very happy to be giving this update. Deryck was discharged after responding so well to his treatments. He is now under the care of his mother who is a registered nurse and myself. The pressure and strain on his heart and lungs has improved and he is able to breath without as much pain. I can’t tell you how truly grateful we are for the community around us. We knew we had support but the outpouring of love for our family has been absolutely overwhelming and we can’t begin to say how much it has meant to us and helped us stay positive through this.”

The risk of heart failure was based on Deryck Whibley’s history of alcohol abuse and hard partying from which he almost died in 2014 when his liver and kidneys collapsed due to the alcohol abuse. Since the hospitalisation in 2014, Deryck Whibley is leading a sober life.
