Author Benedetta Baldin - 17.1.2025

Following the revelation of allegations of verbal and sexual abuse by former manager-producer and Treble Charger vocalist Greig Nori in his new Walking Disaster biography, Deryck Whibley, the frontman of Sum 41, filed a lawsuit against Nori. According to SooToday.com of Sault Ste. Marie, Nori just filed court filings indicating that he is suing Whibley for libel and seeking damages for sharing the tale in his book. Publishers Simon & Schuster LLC have also been identified as defendants in the litigation by him. After Nori accused Whibley in public of lying about the claims in the book, Whibley filed a countersuit against Nori, requesting $3 million in damages. In a defamation lawsuit, the singer accused Nori of “placing the plaintiff in a false light.” Whibley said in the book that Nori, Sum 41‘s initial manager, had cultivated him and had verbally and sexually abused him for years. The singer told the Los Angeles Times that Nori was 34 and he was 16 when they first met. Whibley invited Nori to watch his band while sneaking backstage at a Treble Charger gig, which is how they first met. According to the Sum 41 singer, a connection developed when he started asking Nori questions about the band and music. Before joining the band as their first manager, Nori served as a mentor for songwriting. Click here to read more about this.
