Stoned Jesus Return with hook-heavy new single “Shadowland”

Ukrainian heavy-progressive rock trio Stoned Jesus has unveiled “Shadowland”, the lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album, “Songs to Sun”, due out September 19th, via Season of Mist. The track, paired with a high-speed music video, marks a new chapter for the band—one where their catchiest hooks yet collide with a heavier, grittier sound.

According to frontman Igor Sydorenko, “Shadowland” reflects a search for stability after the emotional turbulence of recent years. Lyrics like “Ground under my feet is / Turning to quicksand” underscore that uncertainty, while the track pushes forward with drive and clarity. It’s a bold mix of grungy riffs that nod to Alice In Chains, melodic grooves, and a soaring climax that hints at new creative directions.

The song also highlights the fresh energy brought in by new members Andrew Rodin (bass) and Yurii Ciel (drums). Rodin’s thunderous low-end anchors the sound as Ciel’s hi-hat strut keeps things tight and slick. Meanwhile, Sydorenko drops what might be the band’s most infectious guitar lick since “Here Come the Robots”.

“Songs to Sun” is the first installment of an ambitious trilogy, with future albums “Songs to Moon” and “Songs to Earth” planned for 2026 and 2027. This first entry leans hard into the band’s aggressive, riff-forward side while keeping the experimental spirit alive. Longtime fans will catch echoes of “Seven Thunders Roar” and “The Harvest”, but the new material also embraces prog, pop, and even gothic elements with confidence.

The video for “Shadowland”, produced by Pirate Shot, captures this shifting mood perfectly—starting in the shadows and racing toward a hazy light as the new lineup snaps into place. It’s a visual metaphor for the band’s journey, both sonically and personally.
