Ukrainian progressive doom outfit Stoned Jesus led by frontman Igor Sydorenko, are set to launch a daring three-part album journey, kicking off with “Songs to Sun”, due on September 19th, 2025 through Season of Mist. This new record marks their sixth full-length and follows their 2023 release “Father Light”.
According to the band’s announcement, “Songs to Sun” continues the sonic evolution showcased on “Father Light”, weaving in familiar touches from earlier albums like “Seven Thunders Roar” and “The Harvest”, while adding fresh twists. Listeners can expect a blend of groove-driven metal intensity, vintage progressive rock textures, and strong, melodic choruses. Lyrically, the album reflects themes of insecurity and instability, with experimentation serving as a grounding force.
The tracklist spans six songs and clocks in at over 40 minutes, including eight-minute opener “New Dawn” and near-ten-minute finale “Quicksand”. The band previewed some of this material during their appearance at Hellfest 2025.
This release is just the first chapter. Season of Mist plans two more albums in the “Songs to…” series: the darker “Songs to Moon”, slated for 2026, followed by the more overtly progressive “Songs to Earth”. This trilogy is billed as a thematic and stylistic exploration of the sun, moon and earth phases, showcasing Stoned Jesus’s range from folk and prog influences to doom and alt-rock heaviness.
As they prepare for the new album, Stoned Jesus will tour Europe this summer alongside Cult of Luna and will return to Latin America in the fall, building momentum ahead of the September launch.
