Static Dress has partnered with Sumerian Records, as seen by the release of the song “human props“, as per theprp. Olli Appleyard, the band’s singer, and Zak Pinchin co-directed the music video for this new song.
Shawn [Keith, Sumerian Records president] and the rest of Sumerian have believed in Static Dress for years completely selflessly. Now, our paths have finally crossed at just the correct time, allowing us to execute this band in the way we always wanted to. No compromises, no forced ideas, no inauthenticities.
They run a label like a label should be ran; actual people promoting music for fans, not just a wannabe money printing machine.
Vocalist Olli Appleyard, drummer Sam Ogden, bassist George Holding, and guitarist Vincent Weight make up the band, which was founded in 2018. They have put out three EPs, a full-length studio album, and several singles. Drummer Sam Kay, bassist Connor Reilly, guitarist Tom Black, and vocalist Olli Appleyard—who had previously worked as a photographer and videographer—formed the band. Black, Reilly, and Appleyard were all former members of the band Galleries. Reilly had just relocated from Manchester to Leeds at the time, which prompted the trio to start producing music in a variety of genres in an effort to discover their voice. Hardcore punk was the band’s first sound, however no music from this era was ever released.
On August 14, 2019, their debut song “Clean” was released. Sam Kay and Appleyard produced the music video for the tune. On October 3 of that year, they opened for Decay at the Glasgow practice room, making their live debut. They also gave performances in Leeds and Liverpool in the days that followed. They soon received requests to open on their own headline tours for Dream State and Creeper. “Adaptive Taste” is their second single, which was released on November 28, 2019. Along with Can’t Swim and Chamber, they opened for Counterparts on their UK headline tour from February 6–20, 2020. “Time To Reset” was the title of the live concert they livestreamed on the tour’s last day.
