Jacksonville, Florida hardcore band Southpaw FLHC have joined the roster at Spinefarm Records and dropped their new single “Torches” alongside an official music video to mark the occasion. The song carries a message of active leadership and accountability, reminding listeners that legacies are built, not inherited. Frontman Daryn LaMontagne emphasized that legacies are forged through discipline and action, not passed down freely.

The lyrics delve into embracing the role of a torchbearer—whether in art, business, community, or life—underscoring the responsibility of setting standards and protecting what came before.

Adding complexity to what should have been all celebration, bassist Marc LaRoche was seriously injured in a car accident on August 24th. He endured a broken sternum and internal bleeding, and a crowdfunding effort has been set up to assist with his recovery.

Despite setbacks, signing to Spinefarm and releasing “Torches” represents a meaningful step forward for the band—one that comes with both promise and a poignant reminder of the hardships that can accompany progress.
