If you were expecting for a surprise holiday release of Slipknot‘s long-delayed “Take A Look Outside Your Window” album, the news is bad, as theprp reports. The band’s percussionist, M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, has now pledged a 2026 release after that missing LP became almost legendary due to its numerous delays. In a Discord Q&A with fans on December 3rd, in the midst of the launch of his new “Minecraft” project with a Slipknot theme, Clown once again broke the dreadful news.
Lets start with LOYW, i know I told everyone it would be this year. I’m very sorry its hasnt been. Things come to play that change things all the time with the art we create. I want you to know 2026 is the year. It’s just simply time and I’m just getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith. I promise
This most recent delay is part of an ongoing pattern. “Take A Look Outside Your Window,” which was first recorded on the side during the 2008 recording sessions for Slipknot‘s fourth studio album “All Hope Is Gone,” wasn’t intended to be a regular Slipknot release. Rather, the eleven-song effort was produced as a type of experiment after Crahan, singer Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, and turntablist Sid Wilson separated from the main album sessions. Members have previously referred to the record as having a “Radiohead vibe,” reflecting that unorthodox approach.
After years of being put on hold, 2019 almost saw the record arrive— on Christmas day no less. 2023 appeared to be the most likely release date when those plans for a holiday surprise were ultimately shelved, or at least Crahan hinted as much. Following that failure to launch, Crahan went on say that 2024 will “definitely” witness the release of the album. But then again, it wasn’t released.
