An man has been sued by the masked Iowan metal band Slipknot for allegedly cybersquatting the Slipknot.com domain and using it to promote pirated goods, as theprp reports. In an attempt to obtain the domain name for themselves, the organization sued the unidentified person this past Wednesday, October 15. The band was compelled to use slipknot1.com, and the person who possesses the Slipknot.com domain is alleged to have had it since 2001. This is what Slipknot‘s attorney Craig Reilly stated in the lawsuit, according to Billboard.

The domain name was registered in an effort to profit off of plaintiff’s goodwill and to trick unsuspecting visitors — under the impression they are visiting a website owned, operated or affiliated with plaintiff — into clicking on web searches and other sponsored links.

The lawsuit also claims that pay-for-click advertisements on Slipknot.com lead consumers to fake Slipknot products. As a result, the band has accused the squatter of unfair competition and trademark infringement. They are also suing for undisclosed cash damages.

In more recent news, Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande confirmed in a new interview with Drummer’s Review that the band has been actively working on new music to follow up their 2022 record “The End, So Far.”

What I can tell you right now is that we are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure. Since I joined the band, we have been working on new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar riffs, drum beats, and we also had some jam sessions. So we have a lot of material right now. We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening. It already happened, and it’s gonna happen in the future. So new material is coming, for sure.

In a different interview, Jim Root revealed he already has six arrangements ready and four more in progress. His goal is to have 20–25 solid song ideas before the band enters pre-production and Corey Taylor begins adding lyrics.
