Iowa’s masked metal giants Slipknot are allegedly exploring a massive financial opportunity, with Billboard reporting that the band is close to selling their portion of publishing and recorded master royalties. The publication references anonymous sources suggesting a potential agreement with HarbourView Equity Partners that could reach $120 million.

The report indicates that the group would maintain ownership of their publishing rights, which represents the most crucial element of this prospective transaction. Meanwhile, the master recording catalog continues to be owned by Warner Music Group, who gained control following their acquisition of Roadrunner Records in 2007.

Using data from Luminate, Billboard estimated that the collective royalty earnings of all band members would produce approximately $8.9 million per year. The report notes, however, that not every member of the group seems willing to sell their complete stake at this time.

Slipknot became independent artists in 2022 following the completion of their Roadrunner Records deal.
