Slipknot release demo version of “Prosthetics”

The masked metal band Slipknot is making some reparations today, even though the July 21st probably should have gone a little better with the release of their lavish 25th anniversary box set version of their 1999 self-titled “debut” album. It was discovered that 100 copies of that intricate set on blood-filled vinyl were distributed and quickly snatched up, incentivizing many admirers who never even had the chance to attempt and buy it. This came after a lack of sufficient communication and a shady countdown timer reveal on a teaser site went blank. Originally priced at $250, those sets later sold for thousands of dollars on third-party websites.

To allay fans’ fears, the band confirmed that almost 2,000 additional copies of the set would be available for purchase starting July 22. As of the time of writing, fans could purchase a Spotify-only edition (on graphite vinyl) for a significantly lower price and a September 5th delivery date. It is anticipated that more variations will also appear through a few shops. In addition to their tangible products, the Iowan group has released a digital version of “Prosthetics,” which was used on the set. This early attempt at the song is one of about 59 tracks the band included in the comprehensive collection honoring the album that first propelled the group’s explosive ascent to stardom.
