Skiltron’s sixth album is the closest to perfection – review of “Bruadarach”

The Finnish-based group Skiltron will release their sixth record, “Bruadarach”, on December 1st, and I am so sorry that everyone will have to wait until then to listen to this album. But trust me, the wait will be worth it.

After some thorough listening, I can confidently say that this album is perfect in every aspect. The themes are varied and relatable, the production is flawless, and the execution is marvellous. Celtic elements brilliantly blend in with guitar, bass and drums: this album is like a journey through the Highlands, fighting for what is right and for what is inside us. Let’s be honest: who can say that their life is without struggle? Most likely, no one.

Not only do the tracks play very nicely on the record, but I would bet all my money that they would be even more powerful and epic played in a live show context. The lucky people who will attend any Skiltron show will definitely be in for a treat. “Proud To Defend”, in particular, is mesmerising to listen to, and you’ll find yourself clapping on rhythm without even noticing.

Skiltron showed us what an experienced group it is, and the talent as well as passion shown in this record are unmatched. They are not afraid to push the boundaries of the genre without falling into obvious or banal melodies. “Bruadarach” is a pleasure for the ears from beginning to end.

In conclusion, if you are willing to wait until December, you will be transported into another world with “Bruadarach”.For fans of folk metal, this album is a must-listen, and it showcases Skiltron at the peak of their creative abilities. Get ready to immerse yourselves and join the adventure that starts as soon as you press play.
