Demiurgon, the Italian powerhouse, delivers the most traditional and pure death metal straight to your doorstep. I wouldn’t be shocked if you haven’t heard of them yet, but I’d be really surprised if they don’t make it big. The band got together in 2014, rising from the remnants of an earlier group that had the same lineup. They brought a more mature perspective to their themes and style and their new identity really shows off a more anti-cosmic perspective. They’re deeply connected to the Italian underground metal scene, and some of the members have also been part of other notable bands like Unbirth and Darkend.
I’m really looking forward to seeing them on the road soon, because what I’ve just experienced listening to their new album, it was a pandora box! For now, though, we’re just excited to hear about their upcoming release, “Miasmatic Deathless Chamber” on the 26th September 2025, which marks like a big moment for the band supported by Transcending Obscurity Records.
If you haven’t heard of the band yet, you should definitely check out their earlier albums too: “Above The Unworthy” from 2015, “The Oblivious Lure” from 2019 and “Cult of Iconoclasm” along with “Il Culto Cannibale” which all came out in 2021.
Sure, if you’re into tech death and bands like Hate Eternal, Suffocation and Immolation (along with a bunch of others), you’ll find plenty of pinch harmonics, nonstop double bass, blast beats, and those unexpected tempo and time shifts.
There are legends that say being from Italy is starting to feel like a sure sign of top-notch, fast-paced, dark, and intense death metal quality. I took me a while to get a sense of what was happening in the album before I could put down any words. In short, it’s packed with riffs that buzz around like wasps and twist like a nest of vipers, driven by some insane drumming in true Krisiun fashion, a heavy bass line and vocals that sound like a wild, werewolf-like madman.
I’m not going to dive into each song individually because I feel like that wouldn’t really do the album justice. Instead, I want to share some of the things that really stood out to me.
With those acid riffs and brutal technique, there is so much to unpack that I didn’t even notice I ended up listening to the whole thing five times. It’s written so brutally, yet somehow it’s still easy to take in.
Demiurgon music is incredibly intense, mind-blowingly intricate, and full of grooves that really pack a punch. Plus, the songs feature some intense guitar riffs that hit you like an extra rush of adrenaline right when you think you’ve already had enough. You know, when it comes to melodies, these songs really have those musical motifs that feel like a classic for the genre.
The album is crafted to create a strong, lively effect that’s sharp and clear. It lets all the super-fast performance skills really stand out, shining like polished steel. The sound details and each instrument are really well balanced throughout the album. This is a well-executed death metal that just captivates you.
Hey, I’ve got some advice for you! Grab a drink and settle in because you won’t have much of a break until the final songs roll around. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself at the end of the album, and it’ll be over in a flash.
