Silent Threnody has released new single called “Scythe“, which is now available on digital streaming platforms. The song is a combination of melodic metal and power metal, borrowing a lot of elements from the metal music of early 2000’s with symphonic, electronic and acoustic additions.
The Finnish band was formed in 2004, and is currently located in city of Oulu. Silent Threnody has been taking a break for multiple years, but reactivated this year. The band is excited to announce that they will be returning to studio and stage next year.
This started as something to celebrate the 20th anniversary since forming the band originally, but making the new song and music video has really reminded us why we loved to do music together as a band in the first place. We can’t wait to get back on stage and start recording new music, and hopefully we can share more information about that soon.

The original idea was just to redo this one song, which had been left unfinished about 10 years ago, and release it in honor of the anniversary. It was really cool to return to rehearsal place with old bandmates and start working on Scythe. It felt like coming home after years of traveling. In the studio, we managed to make Scythe sound really powerful and even filmed an amazing video for it. Singing Scythe in the studio and recording it was somehow emotional, and it’s the kind of feeling I’ve missed as a vocalist. Everything felt so good that there’s no way we can stop with just this one song. Jon Sebastian
