Finnish melodic death/doom act Serpent God, hailing from Iisalmi, has just dropped their first-ever single “Repent”, offering a haunting glimpse into their forthcoming debut album “Denial”, set for release on October 10th, 2025, via Inverse Records. You can stream the track below or find it on your favorite platform now.

“Repent” immediately sets the tone for what’s to come — a dark, brooding journey where crushing doom collides with sweeping melodies. The track moves with relentless momentum, like a ghost train rumbling toward its final stop, yet detours into unexpected territory with eerie twists and turns. Classic rock vibes sneak through the cracks, while the raw edge of ‘90s extreme metal keeps things grounded in gritty heaviness. The lyrics tread near-biblical themes of guilt and redemption, while the spectral guitar solos pull listeners into shadowy dimensions — as if the reckoning is just around the corner.

According to the band, both the single and the album channel apocalyptic energy. Think galloping hooves in the distance, a storm brewing on the edge of the world, and the looming sense that judgment day isn’t just a metaphor anymore.

Serpent God came into being in 2023, almost by accident, when its members were crafting material for another band, Se, josta ei puhuta. But some of those songs didn’t quite fit — they were slower, darker, and just plain weirder. Too good to toss aside, the music spawned a new beast entirely. Rooted firmly in extreme metal, Serpent God branches out boldly into the realms of post-rock, doom, and even avant-garde soundscapes, shaping something both familiar and entirely their own.
