Brazilian metal legends Sepultura brought their live career to a close on November 7 with a farewell concert at Suhai Music Hall in São Paulo, Brazil.
The performance marked the end of the band’s long-running “Celebrating Life Through Death” farewell tour, which began in 2024 after the group announced plans to retire from the road.
The final show was originally scheduled for Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu before being moved to the smaller Suhai Music Hall. The bill also featured Krisiun, Metal Allegiance and Sacred Reich.
The farewell event had been expected to include appearances by former Sepultura musicians Jairo Guedz and Jean Dolabella. The band’s founding Cavalera brothers, Max and Iggor, were not expected to take part.
Fan-recorded footage from the evening has begun appearing online, giving listeners outside Brazil a glimpse of the historic final performance.
Formed in Belo Horizonte in 1984, Sepultura helped bring Brazilian heavy music to a worldwide audience through landmark releases including “Beneath The Remains”, “Arise”, “Chaos A.D.” and “Roots”. The final show closes more than four decades of live performances.
