Russian Circles share final single “Seventh Seal” ahead of new album “Nine”

Chicago instrumental post-metal trio Russian Circles have released “Seventh Seal” along with a music video. The track lands just days before their ninth album, “Nine,” which drops this Friday August 28, 2026, through Sargent House.

“Seventh Seal” serves as the closing track on the record, and it follows earlier singles “Empath” and “Eluvial.” According to the band, the song draws on Cliff Burton-era Metallica, pairing a nylon string solo from guitarist Mike Sullivan with the band’s heaviest, most direct metallic push.

The album marks another collaboration with engineer Kurt Ballou, who has worked with Russian Circles since 2016’s “Guidance.” Tracking took place at Electrical Audio in Chicago, while the finishing touches took place at Ballou’s GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts.

To support the release, the band launch a North American headline tour this fall. You can stream “Seventh Seal” now.
