German symphonic deathcore band Ruins of Perception have released a new single and music video, “The Crimson Key”. The track arrived on October 29, 2026 and serves as the first preview of the group’s upcoming EP Witchcraft And Cruelty, scheduled for January 15, 2027 via Seek & Strike.
The song takes inspiration from Bluebeard, the folktale about a nobleman who forbids his wife from opening a particular door in his castle. Her decision to enter the forbidden room exposes a horrific secret. Ruins of Perception draw on the story’s atmosphere of curiosity, control and fear for both the music and the accompanying video.
Explaining the inspiration the band said the song explores:
Our new single, ‘The Crimson Key‘, marks the start of the journey with one of the darkest figures in European folklore: Bluebeard. The song draws inspiration from the tale of a cruel nobleman whose wives meet horrific fates when they disobey his commands. His newest bride is given access to his castle, but forbidden from opening one particular door.
When curiosity overcomes obedience, a seemingly insignificant key becomes the instrument of her terrible discovery. ‘The Crimson Key’ explores the sinister relationship between power, forbidden knowledge and inevitable doom.
The release continues the band’s combination of heavy deathcore riffs and orchestral textures, using a familiar European folktale to frame a more cinematic presentation. “The Crimson Key” is being presented as the opening chapter of the forthcoming EP, rather than a standalone track unrelated to the next release.
The band previously issued a video for “Ashura” in 2025. Fans can watch the official video for the new single below.
