Long-time veteran rock drummer Ronnie Tutt has died at the age of 83.

The drummer, who had a career spanning more than six decades, was known for his work with rock king Elvis Presley’s band, the Jerry Garcia Band and Billy Joel’s band, among others.

He also played with Johnny Cash, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello, Stevie Nicks and Neil Diamond, among others.

Tutt played behind Presley during the so-called Las Vegas period from 1969 to 1977.

“All of us with Elvis Presley Enterprises were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ronnie Tutt. In addition to being a legendary drummer, he was a good friend to many of us here at Graceland”, says on the website of Graceland.
