Americanafest’s signature event is the Americana Honours & Awards. In the upcoming weeks, more performances, presenters, and event information for the 2026 Americana Honours & Awards will be revealed.

Robert Plant’s relationship with Americana music extends far beyond influence — it is one of genuine passion, stewardship and artistic curiosity, his willingness to immerse himself in the traditions of blues, folk, country and gospel, while continuing to push their boundaries, has expanded the audience for Americana around the world. Few artists have done more to honor the music’s past while helping shape its future. We are thrilled to recognize his extraordinary contributions with the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. – Jed Hilly, Americana Music Association executive director

Robert Plant has always had a deep passion for both classic and contemporary roots music, including blues, folk, gospel, country, and those alluring sounds in between. His curiosity has led him across musical genres since he first gained international recognition as the main singer of Led Zeppelin. He is now one of the most ardent supporters and renowned interpreters of American roots music. In addition to introducing millions of listeners to the richness and skill of Americana music, Plant’s ground-breaking partnerships with Alison Krauss and producer T Bone Burnett on the Grammy Award-winning “Raising Sand” also contributed to the genre’s advancement.

The Recording Academy created a “Best Americana Album” category as a result of this crucial time. With Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, and other colleagues, Plant continued to explore American roots music for Band Of Joy and on a second duet album with Krauss, “Raise the Roof.” More recently, he recorded songs by Gillian Welch, Memphis Minnie and Blind Willie Johnson, Bob Moseley (Moby Grape), Martha Scanlan, Mimi Parker and Alan Sparhawk’s Low, Sarah Siskind, and The Low Anthem, among other Americana gems, to critical acclaim on his record “Saving Grace” and its follow-up EP “Saving Grace: All That Glitters…” with singer Suzi Dian and a band of musical friends from the Welsh borders.
