Revocation unleash new single “Cronenberged” featuring Jonny Davy from upcoming album

Revocation are gearing up to release their next full-length assault, “New Gods, New Masters”, arriving September 26th via Metal Blade Records. The album delivers nine tracks of furious technical death metal, with sharpened songwriting and lyrical depth that builds on the momentum of their acclaimed 2022 release “Netherheaven”.

According to frontman Dave Davidson, the addition of rhythm guitarist Harry Lannon and bassist Alex Weber brought a renewed energy to both the studio and stage. Combined with longtime drummer Ash Pearson, the new lineup injected fresh life into the band’s sound. Davidson emphasized his ongoing commitment to improving his guitar playing, songwriting, and vocal work with each record.

The title “New Gods, New Masters” reflects Davidson’s view that humanity has an innate drive to worship—one that’s shifted from traditional religion toward modern-day idols like technology and its creators. He explained that with advances in science and artificial intelligence, people are turning to new belief systems that might lead society into dystopian territory—or worse.

Ahead of the album release, Revocation dropped the first single, “Cronenberged“, featuring guest vocals from Jonny Davy of Job For A Cowboy. Inspired by classic sci-fi horror and director David Cronenberg’s signature body horror style, the track centers around a science experiment gone haywire. Davidson said the song’s title was partly inspired by the animated series Rick and Morty, and the video for the track takes things up a notch with plenty of gore and grotesque practical effects. He even got to play a tentacled monster on set—something he clearly enjoyed.

The album was produced by Davidson himself and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, known for working with bands like The Haunted and Spiritbox. It also features guest appearances from Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan, Gorguts’ Luc Lemay, and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman. The striking cover art was created by Paolo Girardi, who’s known for his work with Bell Witch, Mother Of Graves, Black Breath, and Cryptopsy.
