Revocation unleash new album “New Gods, New Masters” with “Dystopian Vermin” video

American technical death metal outfit Revocation has unveiled a video for “Dystopian Vermin,” from their now released album “New Gods, New Masters”, which is out now via Metal Blade Records.

The video, produced by the MyGoodEye team, captures the track’s heavy momentum and dark atmosphere through its visual setting and pacing. Founding vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson has described the song as one of the record’s most crushing moments, designed to ignite energy in the live setting.

“New Gods, New Masters” delivers nine tracks of technically charged brutality, featuring guest appearances from Jonny Davy of Job for a Cowboy, Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation, Luc Lemay of Gorguts, and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman. The album was produced by Davidson, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, and comes with dystopian artwork by Paolo Girardi, depicting a techno-nightmare inspired “New God.”

Early reviews have praised the album for its balance of groove and technicality, highlighting songs like “Dystopian Vermin” and “Despiritualized” as standouts, while the instrumental “The All Seeing” has been singled out for its experimental edge.

Formed in Boston in 2000 under the name Cryptic Warning, the band has grown from their thrash roots into one of the leading forces in technical death metal. The current lineup features Davidson, drummer Ash Pearson, bassist Alex Weber, and rhythm guitarist Harry Lannon, whose recent additions have injected fresh energy into the band’s sound.

Davidson has explained that the album’s title reflects humanity’s shift from ancient gods to modern obsessions like technology and AI, raising questions about whether this worship could lead toward dystopia or even self-destruction. Girardi’s artwork reinforces this theme, blending organic and mechanical imagery into a nightmarish vision of a “New God.”
