Revocation drop “Sarcophagi of the Soul” as third single from upcoming album

American death metal band Revocation have unleashed a brand-new single, “Sarcophagi of the Soul”, the latest track taken from their upcoming album “New Gods, New Masters”, due out September 26th through Metal Blade Records. The band’s next full-length promises nine tracks of razor-sharp technical death metal, building on the strength of their acclaimed 2022 release “Netherheaven”.

According to frontman Dave Davidson, the band’s current lineup has brought renewed energy and focus. With the addition of rhythm guitarist Harry Lannon and bassist Alex Weber, alongside longtime drummer Ash Pearson, Revocation’s sound has been revitalized both in the studio and on stage. Davidson continues to push himself as a guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist, and that drive is clearly present across the new material.

The album title reflects Davidson’s commentary on modern belief systems—how humanity’s instinct to worship has shifted from religion to new digital gods. As technology and AI keep advancing, the record explores the darker implications of these societal shifts and where they might ultimately lead.

Earlier this year, Revocation introduced the album with its first single “Confines Of Infinity” featuring Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation, followed by “Cronenberged”, featuring guest vocals from Jonny Davy of Job For A Cowboy. The latter pays tribute to sci-fi horror and the grotesque legacy of David Cronenberg, centering on a science experiment gone horribly wrong. Davidson drew partial inspiration from Rick and Morty for the title and even played a tentacled monster in the blood-soaked video.

“New Gods, New Masters” was produced by Davidson himself and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, known for his work with The Haunted and Spiritbox. The album also features guest spots from Cattle Decapitation’s Travis Ryan, Gorguts’ Luc Lemay, and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman. The striking cover artwork comes from Paolo Girardi, whose previous credits include Bell Witch, Mother Of Graves, Black Breath, and Cryptopsy.
