Breakdowns, beats, brilliance and bears – review of Slaughter to Prevail’s “Grizzly”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 13.7.2025

Many bands are known for their music, others are known for their looks, and others are known by their craziness. I will go out on a limb here and say that Slaughter to Prevail falls in the last category, and perhaps I wouldn’t even be wrong. But if you know them for their music (or their looks) you wouldn’t be wrong either! Let’s focus on the music for now, shall we?

So, these gentlemen are about to release their third album “Grizzly”, that arrives four years after their latest output. What can I say? They’re relentless, unpredictable and absolutely destructive. So is “Grizzly”! Deathcore that stretches out of every limit, boundary and thought. Tracks like “Babayka” and “Rodina” demonstrate how versatile this band is when it comes to creativity.

And if that wasn’t enough, they even enlisted some pretty amazing guests on two of their tracks: Ronnie Radke of Falling In Reverse (with which they’re touring) in the catchy and yet powerful “Imdead“, and BABYMETAL on “Song 3“, which was already released as a single. They really hit the spot with these collaborations, as they enhance even more the album as a whole.

While I’m still not too accustomed to deathcore, even I can say that the band really put a huge effort in delivering a solid product for their fans. The production, mastering and mixing are very well balanced, and the quality is of the highest standards. For being only their third record, they have already reached and surpassed so many milestones, and this will propel them to even new heights.

So if you’re new to metal perhaps this is not the best way to begin your path, but for more experienced listeners, this will satisfy your need for brutality, strength and fury. Slaughter to Prevail are here to stay, so don’t miss out when “Grizzly” drops on July 18th!
