There are some people who grow up and choose to be singers. Then, there are some that are born to be singers. I believe that Anneke van Giersbergen falls into the second category, and for many good reasons. Not only has she collaborated with so many incredible artists, but she also has a very prosperous solo career. And this is why I will dive into her new EP “La Mort”, to be released on March 27th, 2026.
“La Mort” is the second chapter of her triptych ‘La Vie, La Mort, L’Amour’. Now you will think that maybe this is an all-death EP? Well, no, luckily it isn’t. Sure, the heart-wrenching track “Sail Towards The Sun” is a goodbye to Anneke‘s father, and “Fade In Fade Out“‘s lyrics are “You can hide, but never defy time“, but the remaining tracks are all about life and what happens in it.
The production, mixing and mastering are done in a pristine way, highlighting Anneke‘s voice and placing every instrument in their rightful place. There is nothing better than listening to a high quality product, both in the composing and in the technical side of it!
Anneke‘s live band is a guarantee, and on the record they sound even better, if that’s possible at all. “La Mort” is another solid release by the Dutch artist, that gracefully continues the songs from her previous EP “La Vie”. When one is such a gifted individual, it would be a shame to keep the talent just for themselves. Luckily, Anneke has been blessing us with music constantly, and I personally couldn’t be happier about this!
So when March 27th comes, make no mistake and stream “La Mort”, because this release shows another step forward in the right direction. Now, all that’s left is “L’Amour”….
