Rauhbein release ‘Blau & Weiss,’ the new anthem of German ice hockey club Kassel Huskies

Author Benedetta Baldin - 7.3.2024

German folk-rock quintet Rauhbein will hit the road again next week, but visiting venues to perform their uplifting song material for the crowds isn’t the band’s only passion. Another important pilgrimage destination of them is the Nordhessen Arena, the home ground of the current DEL2 main season champions, EC KASSEL HUSKIES, who are now competing in the relegation play-offs to return to the first German ice hockey league (PENNY DEL). Being long-time followers of the team, it wasn’t enough for the group led by Henry M. Rauhbein to only show their support in the stands. That’s why Rauhbein decided to write their own anthem for their favorite club to additionally pay tribute to the HUSKIES musically. ‘Blau & Weiss‘ (engl. ‘Blue & White’) represent the colors of the Kassel, Germany based team, and is nothing but perfectly made to be chanted along at their own ice stadium but hopefully also in Germany’s first division soon. The track is now available on all streaming platforms.

Rauhbein state, “Ice hockey is like rock ‘n’ roll! Both music and sports are fueled by a lot of passion, and when they catch you once, they stay forever.”

The KASSEL HUSKIES are THE most professional ice hockey club in North Hesse. Deeply connected with their loyal fans, the club doesn’t only collaborate with regional but also national partners, while fans and sponsors can enjoy premium sports entertainment in the 2nd German ice hockey division (DEL2) as the HUSKIES consistently belong to the crack teams of the league since many years. With an average attendance of 3,500+ fans, their home games at the modernized Nordhessen Arena enormously inspire supporters of all age groups with a unique atmosphere. The KASSEL HUSKIES’ over 50 years of history also made them well-known outside of North Hesse. The club was one of the initiators of the German ice hockey league in 1994, and even finished the season as runners-up three years later – its biggest success so far. The team could also win the 2nd division championship twice (2008, 2016).

The DNA of KASSEL HUSKIES
The final match results actually don’t matter: The club’s basis is built on unconditional love for ice hockey, its connection to Kassel and its fans as well as the boundless faith in being able to reach each and every goal by hanging together.

#imHerzeneinHusky (engl. ‘A Husky at heart’)
That’s their confession which gets especially vitalised by the club’s long-standing history and all people putting heart and soul into the club. Kassel is their home, that’s where the HUSKIES’ heart beats. Pushed by endless passion for the type of sports itself and the unreserved support for each other, the HUSKIES community unitedly went through ups and downs, experienced many victories but also severe defeats, and wrote history.
