Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe, who has been sober for over 14 years, discussed the challenges of maintaining sobriety while touring in a new interview with That Sober Guy podcast.

I’m lucky in the fact that in my band, four out of five of us are now no longer drinking. I was the lone ranger there for a couple of years. It was kind of hard, because I quit and I’m on this heavy metal bus with these fucking maniacs drinking and doing drugs,” Blythe explains.

Blythe describes how guitarist Willie Adler has been sober for 12 years, and guitarist Mark Morton, who recently published his book “Desolation,” has overcome opioid addiction and been sober for six years. The newest addition to the sober lineup is drummer Art Cruz, who has been clean for over two years.

It’s nice. It’s fucking great. But for a while, it was me. I was a lone ranger. Somebody’s gotta put foot into the pool first,” Blythe concludes.
