Queen will never headline this festival in the UK

Brian May has explained why Queen continues to decline to perform at the renowned Glastonbury festival in the United Kingdom, as per Loudwire.

Artists from a wide range of genres participate in the event, which usually happens in early summer each year. In recent years, rock and metal bands including Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and The Prodigy have performed at the event; however, Queen has never done so. May told Daily Mail that Queen and festival creator Michael Eavis’ political disagreements are the cause, a claim he has made multiple times.

I wouldn’t do Glastonbury next year because of the politics of the people who run it. Unless that changes, I won’t do it.

The “politics” in question are related to animal rights, specifically badger hunting.

They like killing badgers and they think it’s for sport and that’s something I cannot support because we’ve been trying to save these badgers for years. And they are still being killed for years, so that’s the reason we’re missing out on it.

Because the event organizers are aware of Queen‘s animal rights activism, the band was never invited to perform.

Eavis has previously discussed May’s opinions on badger culling, the government-approved killing of badgers to stop the spread of TB in cows in England.

He’s a danger to farming. He doesn’t care about the badgers – he doesn’t know anything about it at all.

Queen and Adam Lambert last performed together in February of 2024. May hinted that the band might be working on certain projects, even though they haven’t decided to go on a full tour once more.

I don’t know when Queen will be back onstage, it’s an unknown we’ll take it day by day. It was time to take a break and spend time with family, take stock… But never say never about not coming back, the rebuild of Queen Two is coming back and there are a couple of things you haven’t heard.
