The well-known punk music online store Interpunk has closed its doors. The closure came shortly after the company’s founder and owner Bob Schermerhorn passed away unexpectedly at the age of 51. Interpunk was founded in 1997 and was one of the largest punk rock mail order services in the US and worldwide, especially between 2005 and 2015.
The company continued to operate until the end of 2024, although its position was eroded by the rise of the likes of Amazon, Bandcamp and bands’ own online stores. Interpunk was a major player in the punk music industry, supplying more than two million products to its customers. It also released limited editions of certain releases.
