The water is getting darker and darker… On March 11th, Wes Scantlin, the guitarist and singer of the multi-platinum post-grunge band Puddle Of Mudd, was taken into custody following a report at 3:00 am regarding a domestic dispute at an apartment in Torrance, California. According to TMZ, responding police concluded that Scantlin and his girlfriend had been involved in a violent argument. They also searched Scantlin and discovered that he was in possession of an unidentified prohibited substance. His bail is set at $90,000, and he is reportedly currently being held in an L.A. County Jail for felony domestic violence and possession of a prohibited narcotic. Following what seems to have been a brief spell of sobriety, the troubled rocker has had a string of unpredictable episodes that have culminated in this most recent fall. In 2019, he credited his experience in prison and his discovery of faith with enabling him to change his ways. Scantlin has a lengthy history of substance misuse, which has led to numerous strange episodes, including drug possession, vandalism, trespassing, and domestic assault charges. Scantlin got into an armed confrontation with the police last year, and just this month, he claimed that an ex-bandmate had “roofied” him after he had a terrible live performance that was obviously inebriated.
