Priest: Release of live album “Live In Hollywood” announced, crowdfunding campaign launched

Author Stefanie Nysand - 17.10.2025

At the beginning of this year, the Swedish dark 80s style synth-pop band Priest, which partly consists of former band members of the Swedish rock heavyweights Ghost, teased the potential release of a live album. Now, this project comes to fruition:

“We are extremely proud to present to you a live album this winter, as a goodbye celebration to the third incarnation of Priest which has come to an end. It’s recorded at one of the world’s most famous concert venues located in West Hollywood. In times of autotune, perfection and AI generated guitar riffs, there might be a longing for something more raw and untamed. On ‘Live in Hollywood’ the spirit of Priest is captured in a beautifully wrapped time capsule. Experience the music, the beats and the sweat from one of the strongest and most energetic live acts in the genre.”

“Live In Hollywood” was recorded during Priest‘s show at the legendary “Whisky A Go Go” in Los Angeles on 27 January 2025. The show was originally scheduled to take place on 8 January 2025, but had to be cancelled due to the wildfires raging in Los Angeles at the time. As in the past, the masked trio has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for “Live In Hollywood”, “to raise a certain budget in order to get the record into production and pay everyone involved in the release along with shipping, PR etc.”. You can find more information about the campaign, including a video and which exclusive rewards you will receive for supporting the campaign, here. Amongst other things, the boots of vocalist Mercury, “worn on countless Priest shows worldwide”, are still up for grabs, while his studded leather jacket, his gloves and “the real mask of Salt/Sulfur from the third era of Priest” already have new owners. With the release of their current EP “Chaos EP” in June 2025 (The corresponding EP review can be read here), Priest announced “the end of an era”, after it had already been mentioned a few months earlier that the whole project would be rebooted. As for “Live In Hollywood”, the cover artwork and tracklist of the vinyl edition have already been revealed. The vinyl edition will be available in various colours. The CD version also includes the track “History In Black“, “which is not on the vinyl edition”.
