The Swedish dark 80s style synth-pop band Priest, which partly consists of former band members of the Swedish rock heavyweights Ghost, has released a new single, a reinterpretation of the popular Christmas carol “Carol Of The Bells“. You can listen to the song below:

Priest comment on the new release as follows:

“Santa comes prematurely this year! ..and we’re almost as surprised as you – a new single is out! Priest recorded a song for @cleopatrarecords upcoming ‘Gothmas’ compilation and this is the haunting result. ‘Carol of the Bells’ is a classic X-mass song with Ukrainian roots – here steeped in dark, gothic synthesizers. Enjoy the soundtrack of this year’s winter holidays!”

The Christmas carol “Carol Of The Bells” is based on the Ukrainian New Year’s song “Shchedryk“. The compilation “We Wish You A Merry Gothmas”, which will be released on 11 October 2024 via Cleopatra Records, can be pre-ordered in CD and vinyl format.
