Poppy, Amy Lee, and Courtney LaPlante’s collaboration on “End Of You” created a lot of excitement on the internet and continues to do so. According to MetalInjection, the three discussed the collaboration with Rishi Shah of NME, and Poppy stated that “End Of You” was “just” “for now,” but the phrase “for now” suggests that there will be more material.
It feels like people are ready for it. I feel like it’s the start of something.
The feeling that they were “all in a band together” and were in the “‘What fun things can we do together?'” phase was something that Amy Lee added.
In order to create their own “version of a dark Moulin Rouge, like “Lady Marmalade”?” Poppy and Jordan Fish, a former member of Bring Me The Horizon and producer, came up with the idea for “End Of You” while working on the album “Negative Spaces.” They specifically collaborated with Amy Lee on the song. Given that Lee had been working with Fish at the time, the notion appeared doable. However, he ultimately proposed a partnership between Lee and Poppy as well as LaPlante.
Overall, in addition to the three vocalists’ contributions, Lee told NME that drummer Ralph Alexander and guitarist Johnuel Hasney filled in on drum and bass.
[Fish] and Mike [Stringer, Spiritbox guitarist and LaPlante’s husband] ended up doing some guitar. It was the project of stacking, focused on adding things based on what each person did.
We all have a different shade that we bring to not only the equation, but multiple genres. It’s our own flavour, colour, and ingredient. Poppy
There is no name yet for this supergroup.
I do feel like the song is so exciting that it deserves its time first. Amy Lee
And unfortunately, not a live performance in sight for the moment.
The first time we perform the song, it should be the three of us. I hate to give away that it’s not happening, but I might as well rip the rug out so people aren’t asking for it up until showtime. We thought about it, but we really want to do it with [LaPlante]. Poppy
It would be so rad if we could do a tour together… there’s a lot of schedules to work around. I don’t know if a full tour would ever happen, but we are determined to create a situation where we can play the song live. Amy Lee
