Planning for Burial, the solo project of Thom Wasluck, makes a comeback with the track “You Think”, which serves as the first sample from the upcoming album “It’s Closeness, It’s Easy”. The new album will be released on May 30th via The Flenser, and is the follow-up to 2017’s “Below the House”.

Where the previous album dealt with coming home and leaving youth behind, “It’s Closeness, It’s Easy” dives into the quiet and heavy emotions of mid-life – mental health changes, addiction, grief and the inevitable passage of time. The album is full of wistfulness, but also of warmth and reconnection.

The songs were written over two years, but the recording of the album took place in intense, holistic sessions. The end result feels more like discovery than construction. The whole project reflects Wasluck’s DIY spirit – he does everything himself: from compositions and cover art to gigs and tours.

In 2025, Planning for Burial will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The debut album “Leaving” was released in 2009, and since then the road has taken them to The Flenser stable, where Wasluck has become one of the most recognisable voices in the label. The new album “It’s Closeness, It’s Easy” is both a continuation and a new kind of account – ready to stop and look life in the eye.
