Daron Beck, the vocalist, keyboardist, and co-founder of the American doom band Pinkish Black, has passed away. The news was confirmed by the band’s record label, Relapse Records, which stated that Beck died of an illness. He was 48 years old.

“We at Relapse Records are saddened by the loss of Daron Beck of Pinkish Black and Zombi and Friends from a medical illness. Daron was a kind, tremendously funny, and gentle soul that made some of the most creative and compelling music ever released on Relapse Records. Our hearts go out to his partner Lisa, mom Debbie, bandmate Jon, and everyone else that was lucky enough to cross paths with him.” Relapse Records wrote in an Instagram post.

Beck founded the band The Great Tyrant in 2005 with drummer Jon Teague and bassist Tommy Atkins. Atkins passed away in 2010, and Beck and Teague continued as a duo under the new name Pinkish Black. They released their critically acclaimed debut album in 2012, followed by three more albums, the latest of which, “Concept Unification,” came out in 2019. In 2020, the band released a collaborative album, “Vanishing Light in the Tunnel of Dreams,” with Yells At Eels.
