Phil Chen, who played bass with Jeff Beck and many others, has died

Jamaican bassist Phil Chen has died of cancer at the age of 80. During his career, Chen played in bands with a wide variety of rock musicians.

“He spent his final days surrounded by family and close friends and cherished time with his grandchildren who always brightened his day. He will be missed greatly and his contagious passion for music and positive energy on and off the stage will be remembered always”, says on Chen’s social media.

During his career, Chen played in bands such as guitarist Jeff Beck, singer Rod Stewart and The Doors’ Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. Other collaborators during Chen’s career include Brian May, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend.
