Chicago post-metal heavyweights Pelican has returned with a new version of their song “Cascading Crescent,” that features Thursday vocalist Geoff Rickly. The original version of the song was featured on their latest album “Flickering Resonance,” which came out in May.

The release marks another moment in Pelican’s renewed creative run. The band’s current lineup, which includes the return of guitarist Laurent Schroeder Lebec, has already reshaped their sound with the force of “Flickering Resonance.” This new version of the single shows they are still exploring ideas even after the album’s launch. The song moves with the same grit and layered heaviness as the album cut, yet Rickly’s presence shifts the balance. It adds tension and brings out a darker tone in the riffs.

Pelican have also confirmed they will continue touring in support of the record. Fans can expect the updated version of the track to find its way into upcoming setlists as the band keeps pushing their material forward.
