Ozzy Osbourne was planning to make more music before he passed away

Zakk Wylde revealed in a recent interview with NJ.com that Ozzy Osbourne had plans for a new album before he passed away, one that would be reminiscent of their collaboration in the early 1990s. As reported by blabbermouth.net, the guitarist, who had intermittently played with Ozzy‘s solo band for almost forty years, was left off of the renowned heavy metal singer’s 2020 album “Ordinary Man,” the first Osbourne record to be produced by Andrew Watt. Watt also directed the follow-up album, “Patient Number 9” from 2022, with Wylde contributing to most of the songs. Watt recorded guitars on “Ordinary Man”.

He was texting me, ‘Zakk, let’s do another record. Because I really loved it when you were going through your Allman Brothers, [Lynyrd] Skynyrd phase when we did ‘No More Tears’. It’s heavy but it’s more melodic. It’s not pummeling heavy.’ So I said, ‘All right, Oz. Whatever you want.’

Ozzy stated in a 2020 interview with Kerrang! that Zakk’s exclusion on the “Ordinary Man” LP had a straightforward explanation. The vocalist claims that during his early jam sessions with Andrew, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, powerful musical ideas surfaced so fast that Zakk’s guitar contribution was never considered since “we didn’t know we were making an album.”
