One of the most legendary voices in heavy metal, Ozzy Osbourne, has passed away. Osbourne died just moments after his farewell concert. He was 76 years old at the time of his death. The news was reported by Sky News.
Ozzy Osbourne‘s final performance took place on July 5th in Birmingham at an event titled Back To The Beginning. In the later years of his life, Osbourne battled Parkinson’s disease.
“It is with a sorrow beyond words that we must announce our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning. He was surrounded by his family and love,” reads the statement released by the singer’s family, published by Sky News.
John “Michael” Ozzy Osbourne was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom, where he co-founded Black Sabbath in 1969 along with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. The band is often credited as the godfathers of heavy metal. In 1980, Osbourne released his first solo album, “Blizzard of Ozz”, which became a massive success.
In addition to his music career, Osbourne was also known as a television personality, with the reality TV show The Osbournes becoming a major pop culture phenomenon.
