Finnish experimental duo NYOS are back with a new album, “Growl”, set to be released on October 11th via Pelagic Records. Along with the announcement, they’ve shared the first taste of what’s to come with the single “Get Ready”, now available below and on major streaming platforms.
Formed in 2014, the band have made their name across Europe’s underground with a unique mix of math rock, post-rock, and noise influences. Their sound is rooted in a loop-driven, polyrhythmic approach that’s both hypnotic and high-energy—and “Growl” looks set to push that formula further than ever. According to the band, this record marks a leap in ambition, with more complex soundscapes, thicker textures, and a stronger focus on tension and release.
“Get Ready” captures this evolution perfectly. It kicks off with a barrage of shimmering guitar loops and builds toward a tight, percussive crescendo—dense, dramatic, and surprisingly emotional. The production this time around opens up the band’s intricate layering, with mastering handled by Guy Davie (Foals, Bloc Party, Jon Hopkins), giving the sound a wide, cinematic edge.
While NYOS still channel their signature intensity and technical prowess, “Growl” also leans into moments of fragility and atmosphere. The band describe it as their most complete and emotionally honest work to date, blending pure freedom with refined craft.
