At first, Shavo Odadjian, bassist for System Of A Down, and Michael Montoya of Winds Of Plague formed Seven Hours After Violet as more of a studio project. They had first imagined the group to be similar to the “DJ Khaled of rock,” with a number of features from well-known musicians, but they were still determining the band’s scope and the type of music they wanted to play. Jonathan Davis of Korn, former Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones, and Serj Tankian of System Of A Down are a few of these alleged members. But in the end, they sought to convert the concept to a live environment and recruited members of Left To Suffer.
What happened was the music became really interesting and I started wanting to play this live. I was, like, “We should play this live,” and at that point having just features on the record wouldn’t work out because then how do you play live?
They tried reworking a few of Davis’s vocals, but it didn’t work out.
Wasn’t as good as it should be, because I think Jonathan is amazing. I even spoke to him, we decided if we ever do, we’ll write together, not use something that he already had under another rhythm.
