The UBS Arena in New York, New York hosted an awards ceremony where the “MTV Video Music Awards” were presented, as reported from theprp. A group of musicians came together as part of the celebrations to honor the late great heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne. Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Joe Perry and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and YUNGBLUD, who in recent years became a sort of protégé for Ozzy and his wife Sharon, were among the performers called upon for that performance. Among those in attendance was Adam Wakeman, who himself had performed live with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. On July 5, 2025, in Birmingham, UK, Ozzy‘s final live performance, the all-star “Back To The Beginning,” featured many of the musicians listed above. On July 22nd, almost two weeks later, Osbourne would tragically pass away from a heart attack. Tonight’s awards program featured a combination of three Ozzy classics: “Crazy Train,” “Changes,” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” A video of that from the official broadcast is included below. Pop sensation Ariana Grande‘s audience response to her performance, meanwhile, has already started to become well-known.
