Northern Rockfest Open Air 2024 cancelled: “Circumstances have arisen surrounding the arrangement”

While summer and its open air festivals are in full swing, some festivals are unfortunately forced to announce their cancellation. One month after the cancellation of The Ultimate Rockfest 2024 in the Swedish city of Karlskrona, Northern Rockfest Open Air 2024 in the northern Swedish city of Umeå will no longer take place either:

“We are sorry to have to announce that Northern Rockfest Open Air in Umeå unfortunately has to be cancelled. Circumstances have arisen surrounding the arrangement that make it impossible for us to carry out the festival as planned. We apologise for this. Tickets can be returned to the point of purchase.” – Northern Rockfest Open Air

In addition to the cancellation itself, it is the obscure nature of the statement that is causing discontent among the festival’s fans on social media platforms such as Facebook. Northern Rockfest Open Air 2024 was supposed to take place in three weeks, from 2 – 3 August 2024, with Meshuggah as its headliner. Other bands in the line-up included Evergrey, Nestor and Eleine. Meshuggah also comment on the cancellation:

“Meshuggah regrets to inform you that the concert at Northern Rockfest in Umeå has to be cancelled, unfortunately. Although we were really looking forward to playing for you all, circumstances have arisen surrounding the arrangement that made it impossible for us to carry out the gig as planned. We hope to come to Umeå under better conditions in the near future. We sincerely apologise for any disruptions in your summer plans. Tickets can be redeemed via the retailers.” – Meshuggah
