Nine Treasures drop new single “Until Now” from upcoming album

Chinese-Mongolian progressive metal collective Nine Treasures have released their latest single and video, “Until Now”, as a preview of their forthcoming full-length, “Seeking the Absolute”, due out October 24 via Metal Blade Records.

The opening riff of “Until Now” traces back to early 2021. The band’s frontman Askhan says after their previous album Wisdom Eyes, the group discarded over twenty songs before arriving at a sound that felt authentic. The creative turning point arrived mid-writing, when a sliding riff played on the tovshuur sparked the final structure. The song includes a freeform improvisational section that the band says makes every performance feel like “riding a wave.”

“Seeking the Absolute” will be released in CD, digital, and vinyl formats. The vinyl editions include Red Galaxy (U.S. limited to 300), standard 180 g black (EU), and an Orange/Red/Black Melt version (EU limited to 200).

Since forming in Inner Mongolia in 2010, Nine Treasures have fused heavy metal instrumentation and vocals (including Mongolian throat singing) with traditional instruments such as the balalaika, morin khuur, and tovshuur. Their sound navigates between straightforward headbanging metal and more atmospheric progressive textures.
